Nestled in the heart of Northern Jackson Hole, the Hatchet Resort isn’t just another place to rest your head—it’s a living, breathing narrative of Wyoming’s wild spirit and a leader in Grand Teton lodging choices. Established in 1954, this historic haven whispers stories of early settlers and the untamed landscape that has captivated travelers for generations.

Imagine a refuge where the word “resort” transcends luxury and transforms into something more profound. The Hatchet isn’t about thread counts or concierge services. It’s about authentic experiences, raw beauty, and connection to a landscape that defies description.

The Hatchet offers more than accommodations at the crossroads of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. It provides a portal to adventure. Step outside, and the world unfolds: pristine fishing streams, winding bike trails, hiking paths that weave through untouched wilderness, and wildlife encounters that will steal your breath. Seven acres of national forest land cradle the property, with Mount Moran standing sentinel to the west. Its presence is a constant reminder of nature’s magnificent scale.

The Hatchet Resort and What Sets Us Apart in the Tetons

What sets the Hatchet Resort apart from other Grand Teton lodging choices isn’t just its location. It’s the people. Multigenerational staff, many from local Buffalo Valley families, bring a level of hospitality that can’t be manufactured. Two families from Mexico arrive weeks before opening, and their dedication is a testament to the profound connection this place inspires. The team isn’t just employees. They’re storytellers, guardians of a legacy that stretches back to 1889. They don’t just serve guests. They invite them into a living narrative of Wyoming’s heart.

Wildlife here isn’t a mere attraction to us. The local wildlife is family! Felicia, the resident grizzly momma, forages on the property each spring. A family of foxes, a playful pine marten, a wandering badger, and the annual visits from a moose and her calf create a living, breathing ecosystem that guests don’t just observe, but become part of.

The on-site dining comes loaded with fresh, hearty mountain cuisine. Our restaurants feature everything from trout and steaks to our famous Hatchet Burger and Elk Medallions. Eat local. Nothing is more fresh as everything is sourced from seasonal offerings.

Unplugged, Unfiltered, and Furnished Authentically

Here, we offer something increasingly rare: genuine disconnection. No fancy amenities, no “hoity-toity” nonsense. Just wide-open spaces, breathtaking scenery, and the ability to truly escape. Corporate retreats, family reunions, and weddings all find a home here from May through October, but the most profound gatherings are the quiet moments with loved ones. Watch the sunset paint the Teton Range, listen to the whisper of pine forests, feeling the pulse of a landscape unchanged for millennia. You simply can’t get it anywhere else in the country.

Staying with us is more than just lodging. It’s a philosophy. A belief that memories matter more than marble bathrooms, that experiences trump extravagance. The Hatchet doesn’t just offer a getaway stay! It offers transformation. The Hatchet Resort reminds us to pause in a world of constant noise and digital saturation. To breathe. To reconnect with something larger than ourselves.

Come for a room. Stay for a story. Leave with a piece of Wyoming’s soul.
