Snake River Overlook
Ansel Adams immortalized this spot with a photograph he took in 1942. Although many trees have since grown and partially obstructed the view, it remains awe-inspiring, particularly in the fall. Fortunately, arriving at sunrise is optional, as the low light can create shadows in your photos. A good strategy is to capture the sunrise at Schwabacher Landing before heading to Snake River Overlook.

The view of the Tetons from the beaver pond area is the quintessential image you’ve likely seen on postcards, commercials, and even in TV shows and movies. Arrive before dawn to capture the anticipation of what awaits. You will capture plenty of animal life. Spring and summer offer lush green grass and trees that beautifully frame the mountains. There are several excellent vantage points at the Landing, so take your time and savor the morning as you explore before heading over to the Snake River Overlook.
